Position Overview
This role focuses on the innovative design methodologies for large-scale hydrogen integration within various power grid configurations and conversion technologies. The Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to engage in a project centered on the hardware design of novel DC power electronics aimed at significantly reducing weight while ensuring high efficiency.
The research will also delve into the interactions between power electronics and electrolyzers, proposing advanced control strategies for DC power electronics to mitigate the degradation of electrolyzers due to flexible operational demands. The project aims to optimize the design of power electronics converters with cutting-edge control systems developed at TU/e, which will be validated using electrolyzers from HET.
Project Goals
- Examine various DC converter topologies and control strategies tailored for offshore wind power to hydrogen applications.
- Develop advanced topologies and optimal control mechanisms for high-power medium voltage DC/DC converters to reduce electrolyzer degradation.
- Integrate and assess the performance of the power converter with 25 kW high-pressure (100 bar) electrolyzer stacks.
Candidate Profile
- Ph.D. in power electronics or a related field.
- Proven ability to conduct high-caliber academic research, evidenced by a relevant doctoral thesis and/or publications.
- Extensive experience in the design and implementation of high-power power electronics converters.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for advancing power electronics technologies for hydrogen applications.
- Fluency in English, along with strong communication and leadership skills.
- A collaborative spirit, capable of thriving in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
Employment Conditions
