Air Freight Operations Director

More Recruitment B.V. seeks a highly skilled Air Freight Operations Director to lead their Air Freight operations. This key role will be responsible for developing and executing business policies, pricing strategies, and operational plans aimed at maximizing profitability and expanding market share in the designated region.

  • Develop and execute policies and pricing strategies for the Air Freight business to enhance profitability and market share.
  • Coordinate all international operations, including Export, Import, and Customs activities, while ensuring compliance with regulations and internal procedures.
  • Ensure that all Operations teams meet customer requirements and implement corrective actions when deviations occur.
  • Provide guidance to Export, Import, and Gateway teams to ensure alignment with overall business strategy and compliance with the local market.
  • Monitor quality standards and drive continuous improvement and optimization of product offerings.
  • Foster a high-performance service culture within the Export and Import departments.
  • Achieve budgetary goals by establishing and tracking clear objectives.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Product, and Global Service Centers as necessary.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with airlines and vendors supporting the Air Product.
  • Develop and oversee the Air procurement strategy, including carrier selection and utilization guidelines.
  • Lead carrier performance management initiatives.
  • Direct Export, Import, and Energy personnel in adhering to operating plans that support the air product.
  • Accountable for the performance of a multi-category department, ensuring alignment with business needs at both global and regional levels.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contracting, negotiating, organizational development/change management, budgeting, and action planning.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual abilities, combined with effective communication skills.
  • Strategic planning capabilities with a strong customer orientation.
  • Must be able to work at the office daily.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, or International Business, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience, with at least 6 years specifically in Air Freight and 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Self-motivated, with a positive attitude and a strong drive to exceed targets.
  • Proven experience in influencing and negotiating with external vendors.
  • Background in project and system management.
  • Familiarity with all operating platforms is essential.
