Position Overview
The Project Development Office (PDO) serves as the primary resource for all initiatives related to securing research funding and crafting project proposals. Our mission is to assist researchers in identifying compelling funding sources, refining their research concepts, and formulating competitive project submissions. Throughout the lifecycle of projects, we collaborate closely with colleagues from Finance, Legal, HR, Data Management, and Ethics, as well as project development officers, program managers, and researchers from various departments within TU/e's Institutes and the Research Support Network.
Role Responsibilities
- As a Research Funding Advisor, you will be the authority on securing research funding and initiating new projects. You will possess in-depth knowledge of the regulations set forth by various funding bodies (such as NWO and the European Commission) and have established a network of relevant academic and industry contacts. Your expertise will enable you to align promising opportunities with innovative research ideas.
- You will actively assist researchers in acquiring research projects by expanding your network of internal and external stakeholders, supporting the development of project initiatives, facilitating consortium building, aiding in proposal writing, and ensuring the overall quality of submissions.
- Your role will also encompass the administrative aspects of project development, including navigating grant regulations, collaborating with Finance to establish budgets, managing submission processes, and supporting contract negotiations with TU/e's legal team upon grant approval.
- You will maintain a centralized administration of project applications, management information, and project case files, serving as a key resource for project-related inquiries.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise and experience in supporting the acquisition of research funding and developing new projects, with a thorough understanding of the rules and regulations imposed by various funding organizations.
- Experience in establishing high-quality research and innovation projects, with a strong ability to structure and substantiate research ideas in compelling project proposals and collaborations.
- A collaborative team player, capable of working effectively with researchers, support staff, and other departments, universities, and industry partners.
- Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) in English, with proficiency in Dutch being an advantage.
- Goal-oriented, proactive, organized, reliable, and recognized as a valuable partner. You should be adaptable and able to work effectively under pressure.
- A solid understanding of scientific processes (at least a Master's degree in a technical discipline), with the ability to engage with researchers in their language.
Employment Conditions
This position offers an exciting opportunity within the Project Development Office of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The salary will be commensurate with your experience and in accordance with the CAO Dutch Universities. A one-year contract will be provided, with the possibility of a permanent contract following a positive evaluation after the first year.
The role is full-time (1.0 fte) with a gross monthly salary ranging from €4,492, corresponding to scale 11 or 12, depending on your qualifications and experience. A part-time appointment of 0.8 fte (32 hours per week) is also an option. Hybrid working arrangements, combining on-campus and remote work, are available. Additionally, we offer an annual holiday allowance of 8%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, a total of 41 days of vacation leave, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes excellent technical infrastructure, commuting allowances, pension scheme ABP, childcare, and outstanding sports facilities.
