We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Professional Doctorate Candidate to join our team in the maritime field. As a Professional Doctorate Candidate, you will conduct practice-oriented research that contributes to the sustainability, safety, and competitiveness of the maritime sector.

Job Description:

Location: Amsterdam

Salary: € 4,361.31 to € 6,114.87 per month

Employment: 32-40 hours per week

Contract: Temporary 1-year contract with extension option of 3 years

As a Professional Doctorate Candidate, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be supervised by a professor and fellow researchers. You will conduct research in the maritime sector, focusing on the development of new capabilities to enable sustainable restoration of parts of high value with an efficient repair process.

You will also have the opportunity to work on various projects, including the topic of repair innovations, and will be supported by a range of resources, including access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct practice-oriented research in the maritime sector
  • Develop new capabilities to enable sustainable restoration of parts of high value with an efficient repair process
  • Work on various projects, including repair innovations
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
  • Be supervised by a professor and fellow researchers

Requirements:

  • Completed university of applied sciences or university master's degree in the maritime field or a relevant field
  • Up-to-date knowledge of maritime practice and experience in maintenance and repair
  • Affinity with solid mechanics and materials engineering background
  • Prior experience in mechanical testing and/or materials characterization is highly desirable
  • Demonstrable good command of the Dutch and English language (at least level C1)
  • Demonstrable research and publication experience is a plus
