Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. The successful candidate will work on two exciting projects: designing and building a highly reliable optical lattice clock and creating continuously operating optical clocks.

About the Projects

Project 1: Optical Lattice Clock

  • Design and build a highly reliable optical lattice clock based on our AQuRA project.
  • Distribute the frequency reference of this clock through fibre links across the Netherlands and Europe.

Project 2: Continuously Operating Optical Clocks

  • Create a superradiant clock and a zero-deadtime, multi-ensemble clock.
  • Achieve a precision of 10^-18 in minutes, unlocking new possibilities in fundamental science and society.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in experimental ultracold atom or trapped ion physics. You should have a strong motivation to work with our team in a challenging and rewarding research field. Good command of English is required.

About Our Offer

We offer a temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension up to 4 years. The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranges between € 3, to € 5, (scale 10). We also offer a favourable tax agreement, the '30% ruling', for non-Dutch applicants.
