Research Opportunity in Green Steel Modelling
The Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a talented PhD student to join the PLEDGE project, a research initiative focused on understanding the consequences of 'green' steel making. The project aims to develop a multi-scale integrated experimental-numerical micromechanical approach to study the influence of particle size and distribution on the mechanical properties of green steels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and apply state-of-the-art computational crystal plasticity and internal boundary modelling to study the mechanical properties of green steels.
- Replicate and rationalize advanced in-situ experiments performed in the experimental PhD project within PLEDGE.
- Contribute to the macroscale exploitation and industrial application of the research findings.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or Applied Physics.
- Strong background in continuum mechanics and numerical methods.
- Additional experience in materials science, metallurgy, experimental mechanics, or structure-property relationships is beneficial.
- Excellent oral and writing skills in English.
