How do you make our customers happy?

By helping them find the product(s) they’re looking for. It really is that simple. Except it isn’t, because with a catalog of over 35M articles spanning a wide range of shopping domains, guiding them straight to that proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow takes considerable resourcefulness. How can we optimize the search & navigation journeys for web and app? Which features add value? Which detract? And how can we integrate advertisements so organically that they embellish the overall experience? We look to you for inspiration

What you do as Lead Product Design Help Me Find

Adopt and advocate a customer-centric approach. Enhancing the shopping experience calls for intimate knowledge of the hurdles customers face. So, product discovery techniques – such as interviewing, developing Opportunity Solution Trees, and design thinking – are indispensable tools in your toolbox. As for the most pressing topics (feel free to add to this mix), we are optimizing ad integration in the customer journey and boosting ad relevance for propositions such as Sponsored Products 3.0, Display Advertising, and Consideration Display.

How can we ensure ads serve as waypoints instead of dead ends? Upping their relevance is key, but how to go about that is up to you. We’re also implementing Simple Shop, an architectural (frontend-focused) concept that calls for rethinking our interface with an eye to consistency, accessibility, and customer enjoyment. For example, by optimizing the product tile on the results page (image, title, reviews, product summary, etc.) to help customers find their favorites easier.

In this role, you initially manage, mentor, and develop one designer, with the potential (but no guarantee) for a larger scope. Given the product’s impact – Help Me Find not only boosts the customer and advertiser experience but also contributes to our commercial results – you need to team up with a wide range of stakeholders, such as the Group Product and Engineering Managers (align on vision & strategy), the product teams (help them overcome design challenges), Product Analysts and Data Scientists (instilling data-drivenness), as well as Design System and Research teams, Group Product peers from Decide to Buy, and our Discover and Advertising teams. You report to the Head of Design (but mainly work within the HMF Team). You can bounce ideas off of 5 design leads, 1 research lead, the Design OPS, and fellow members of the Shopping & Advertising design community (25 designers, plus copywriters, researchers, et cetera).

In this role, you’ll work in the Shopping & Advertising Products Department. you will report to the Head of Design, and is always happy to help.
