The Director of Direct Merchandising for Converse owned retail in Western European is responsible for delivering profitable growth in a dynamic trading environment. They will be able to work cross functionally to unlock the full potential of the Converse brand, while owning the direct merchandise team, to deliver on strategy and vision for this part of our business. They will be able to create a high-performance environment through motivating and growing our talent.

What you will work on

You will be the Director, Direct Merchandising for our Western European owned channels (digital and physical) as we endeavor to sustainably grow the Converse business in alignment with our integrated marketplace merchandise vision and strategy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Merchandising offence for the DTC channels: with a consumer first attitude to deliver profitable growth in alignment across the Integrated Marketplace.
  • Grow our talent: to become leaders of the future in alignment with their career development plans
  • Collaborate: across the Converse business within DTC, Merchandising, Customer Operations, Business planning, Inventory Management, Go to Market, Retail Marketing and Finance teams to achieve your business goals
  • Plan, Implement, Review & Optimise: Define and evolve digital and physical strategy and capacity plans to deliver on key retail moments.
  • Set the future: leverage the W.E Converse Corporate Strategy to build a long-term strategic merchandise plan and vision for the dimensions of Converse owned retail channels.
  • Standout Colleague: be a key member of the DTC and Merchandising leadership teams providing insights and support when needed

Who you will work with

Working closely with primarily your direct reports, report to the Senior Merchandise Director of Converse W.E. and with a dotted line to Snr Director, Direct to maximise the opportunity for converse owned channels within the marketplace.

Additionally, Be part of the W.E Merchandising and Direct to consumer team, setting the strategy and optimising converse position, delivering retail excellence within the marketplace.

Have interactions with global partners, providing data and consumer insights to global on various topics to support the development of converse owned retail within your portfolio.

The role is based in Converse EHQ, Hilversum, The Netherlands but with travel expected to meet our retail partners

What you bring

  • Extensive experience within a buying, merchandising or direct to consumer role
  • Proven experience of team management, Experience in goal setting for your direct reports & a track record of developing talent
  • Experience translating consumer and competitor insights to inform the future line plan.
  • Experience in buying and trading a diverse commercial portfolio.
  • Experience working within youth culture and /or fashion/street style spaces
  • Passion for the Converse brand and culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentational skills with ability of building strong relationship with internal collaborators
  • Strong analytical skills and proven capability to use data to drive business decisions
  • Ability to collaborate in high profile matrix-oriented environment across various business functions.
  • This position requires someone who can plan, think analytically, and execute end to end plans for owned retail.
