Position Overview
The Eindhoven University of Technology is seeking a dedicated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the advancement of renewable hydrogen production systems. This role plays a crucial part in achieving the EU's greenhouse gas emission reduction goals, particularly focusing on the integration of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power.
Project Objectives
The primary aim of this research is to assess the impact of renewable hydrogen production on the Dutch Transmission System, emphasizing voltage quality and system stability. The project will delve into the following key areas:
- Modeling Harmonic Emissions: Analyze harmonic emissions produced by various power converter technologies, including voltage source converters and rectifiers, under different operational conditions influenced by renewable energy generation.
- Dynamic Risk Assessment Methodology: Develop innovative methodologies for evaluating the dynamic integration risks associated with grid-following converters and LCC-based systems.
- Compliance and Security Measures: Identify corrective actions necessary to meet connection requirements, ensuring the long-term security of the power supply.
Candidate Requirements
- PhD in power electronics or a related field.
- Proven ability to conduct high-quality academic research, evidenced by a relevant doctoral thesis and/or publications.
- Experience in modeling grid-following converters and large-scale power electronics systems.
- A forward-thinking approach with a strong ambition to innovate in power system analysis methodologies.
- Fluency in English, with excellent communication and leadership skills; knowledge of Dutch is not required.
- A collaborative spirit, capable of thriving in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
Employment Conditions

- Full-time employment for a duration of two years.
- Competitive salary in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, scale 10 (minimum €4,020 to maximum €5,278).
