Job Summary
The Chemical Weapons Analyst will be responsible for reviewing, processing, and analyzing information collected by the OPCW Investigation and Identification Team (IIT). This includes collating, processing, and analyzing multi-source information to inform decisions relating to further investigative activities.
Main Responsibilities
- Review and analyze information collected by the IIT, including incidents involving the use or likely use of chemical weapons.
- Collate and process multi-source information, including open source materials, to identify information gaps and inconsistencies.
- Provide inputs to investigation strategies and policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures for the conduct of analytical work.
- Prepare accurate analytical products, including reports and presentations, to support investigations.
- Liaise and coordinate with the IIT team to identify and analyze documents and other materials for determination of relevance to the investigative activities.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a university degree in international law, criminal investigations, military science, crime analysis, social/political science, or other related fields. A minimum of 5 years' experience in investigative analysis work in the context of international or national criminal or human rights investigations or intelligence is required.
Skills and Competencies
The successful candidate will have strong reasoning skills, including the ability to understand complex scenarios and develop sound logical inferences. Advanced computer skills, including the ability to efficiently operate databases, search engines, and data mining software, are also required.
Languages
Fluency in English is essential, and a good working knowledge of Arabic is desirable. A good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset.
