Required Qualifications: You hold a certification as an Elementary School Teaching Assistant and possess a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent university qualification. Experience working with young children, particularly in American, Canadian, or international educational settings, is preferred. You demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in implementing developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and differentiated teaching practices.

Key Responsibilities: The role is overseen by the Elementary School Principal, and you will collaborate closely with classroom teachers to support our students. Your primary focus will be on facilitating strong language acquisition in both Dutch and English through academic and social skills instruction. Additionally, you will assist teachers with routine tasks related to instructional assignments.

Daily Activities: As an Elementary School Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include supporting the classroom teacher in executing the educational program. This may involve working with students individually, in small groups, or as a whole class. You will play a significant role in enhancing the language acquisition experience for students in both Dutch and English. Monitoring student progress and assisting in assessments under the teacher's guidance will be part of your duties. You will also support the teacher's classroom management strategies and direct parent inquiries regarding student behavior and instruction to the classroom teacher. Your involvement will extend to attending special area classes with students and providing assistance as requested by special area teachers. Supervision of students during recess, lunch, and transitions will also be part of your role.

You will assist the classroom teacher in preparing lessons and ensuring the classroom environment is conducive to learning. This includes tasks such as grading assignments, photocopying, laminating, filing, organizing instructional materials, and assisting with classroom setup and cleanup.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Accompany students on field trips,
  • Assume teaching responsibilities when substituting for the classroom teacher,
  • Attend all faculty and school-wide meetings,
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Teaching Assistant.
