Qualifications: You hold a certification as an Elementary School Teaching Assistant and possess a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification. Experience working with young children, particularly in American, Canadian, or international educational settings, is preferred. You have a solid theoretical foundation and practical experience in implementing developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and differentiated teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities: You will be supervised by the Elementary School Principal and will work closely with our young learners. Your primary role involves facilitating strong language acquisition in both Dutch and English through academic and social skills instruction. You will assist teachers with routine tasks related to the educational program.

Daily Activities: As an Elementary School Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include supporting the classroom teacher in delivering the educational curriculum. This may involve working with students individually, in small groups, or as a whole class. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the language acquisition experience for students in both languages. Monitoring student progress and assisting in assessments under the teacher's guidance will be part of your duties. You will also support the teacher's classroom management strategies and direct parent inquiries to the appropriate channels. Participation in special area classes and supervision during recess and transitions will be expected.

You will assist the classroom teacher in preparing lessons and ensuring the classroom environment is conducive to learning. This includes tasks such as grading assignments, photocopying, organizing instructional materials, and supporting students with hygiene needs.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in field trips with students,
  • Assume teaching responsibilities when required to substitute for the classroom teacher,
  • Attend faculty and school-wide meetings,
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned to you as a Teaching Assistant.
