Overview of the Role

The American School of The Hague is seeking a dedicated and passionate Bilingual Elementary School Teaching Assistant. This position is essential in fostering a nurturing and effective learning environment for our students.

Location: The role is based within our Elementary School, where you will work closely with students and educators to enhance language acquisition in both Dutch and English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering the educational curriculum, focusing on both academic and social skills.
  • Support students individually, in small groups, or as a whole class to promote language development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Help maintain a positive classroom environment by supporting the teacher's management strategies.
  • Engage with parents as partners in their child's education, directing inquiries to the appropriate educator.
  • Participate in special area classes and provide assistance as needed.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, and transitions to ensure their safety and well-being.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English.
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in an international or bilingual educational setting.
  • A solid understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and inclusive education.
  • The ability to work independently and follow oral and written instructions.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding school and student information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, respect, and integrity.

Additional Duties:

You may also be required to:
