Position Overview
The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Erasmus MC is seeking a dedicated assistant professor to initiate a novel research trajectory that merges statistics, causal inference, and machine learning methodologies. This new research focus should be expansive and align with the current research themes within the department.
While the primary emphasis of this role is on research, the candidate will also participate in teaching and consulting responsibilities within the department.
Work Environment
The Biostatistics department at Erasmus MC is renowned for its contributions to innovative statistical and machine-learning techniques aimed at addressing clinical, epidemiological, and public health inquiries. Faculty members lead research initiatives in areas such as joint models for longitudinal and time-to-event data, dynamic prediction models, clinical trial methodologies, models for rare diseases, growth curve modeling, and Bayesian statistical methods.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Proven ability to conduct independent research.
- Experience in teaching at the university level.
- Background in collaborative projects with clinical researchers is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a readiness to collaborate with team members.
Employment Terms
- This is a temporary position for a duration of three years. The gross monthly salary can reach up to € 7.232,- (scale 12), contingent on educational background and relevant experience, based on a full-time workweek of 36 hours. There is potential for a permanent contract following the initial three years.
- Attractive benefits, including a 13th month salary paid in November and an individual travel expense package.

- Pension coverage through ABP, with the institution covering approximately two-thirds of the monthly contributions.
