Position Overview
The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Erasmus MC is in search of a dedicated assistant professor to initiate a novel research trajectory that bridges the fields of statistics, causal inference, and machine learning. This new research focus should be expansive and align with the current research themes within the department.
While the primary emphasis of this role is on research, the candidate will also be expected to participate in the department's educational and consulting endeavors.
Work Environment
The Biostatistics department at Erasmus MC is renowned for its contributions to innovative statistical and machine-learning methodologies aimed at addressing questions in clinical, epidemiological, and public health research. Faculty members are engaged in research areas such as joint models for longitudinal and time-to-event data, dynamic prediction models, clinical trial methodologies, models for rare diseases, growth curve models, and Bayesian approaches.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- A PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven ability to function as an independent researcher.
- Experience in teaching.
- Collaborative project experience with clinical researchers is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a willingness to collaborate with colleagues.
Employment Terms
- The position is temporary for a duration of three years. The gross monthly salary can reach a maximum of € 7.232,- (scale 12), contingent on your educational background and relevant experience, based on a full-time schedule of 36 hours.
- Attractive benefits, including a 13th month salary disbursed in November and a personalized travel expense package.
- Support services to assist with your relocation and integration.
- Pension plan with ABP, covering approximately two-thirds of the monthly contribution.
- Additional perks, such as access to an in-house physiotherapist and bicycle repair services, along with a gym facility for post-work fitness activities.
