Position Overview

The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Erasmus MC is seeking a dedicated assistant professor to develop a novel research initiative that integrates statistics, causal inference, and machine learning methodologies. This new research direction should align with and enhance the current research themes within the department.

The primary emphasis of this role is on research, while also contributing to the department's educational and consulting efforts.

Work Environment

The Biostatistics department at Erasmus MC is renowned for its innovative approaches in statistical and machine-learning techniques aimed at addressing clinical, epidemiological, and public health inquiries. The department's researchers are at the forefront of various research areas, including joint models for longitudinal and time-to-event data, dynamic prediction models, clinical trial methodologies, models for rare diseases, growth curve modeling, and Bayesian statistical methods.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • A PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research.
  • Experience in teaching at the university level.
  • Collaborative experience with clinical researchers is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to teamwork.

Employment Terms

  • This is a temporary position for a duration of three years, with a gross monthly salary up to € 7.232,- (scale 12), contingent upon your educational background and relevant experience, based on a full-time work schedule of 36 hours.
  • Attractive benefits, including a 13th month salary paid in November and a personalized travel expense package.
  • Support services to assist with your relocation and integration.
  • Pension coverage through ABP, with the institution covering approximately two-thirds of the monthly contributions.
  • Additional perks, such as access to an in-house physiotherapist and bicycle repair services, along with a gym facility for post-work fitness activities.
