Position Overview

The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Erasmus MC is in search of a dedicated assistant professor to initiate a novel research trajectory that merges statistics, causal inference, and machine learning. This new research avenue should be comprehensive and align with the current research themes within the department.

Research Focus

This role is primarily research-oriented, with additional responsibilities in teaching and consulting within the department.

The Biostatistics department at Erasmus MC is renowned for its innovative approaches in statistical and machine-learning methodologies aimed at addressing clinical, epidemiological, and public health inquiries. The department's research encompasses various areas, including joint models for longitudinal and time-to-event data, dynamic prediction models, clinical trial methodologies, models for rare diseases, growth curve models, and Bayesian methods.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research.
  • Experience in teaching.
  • Collaborative project experience with clinical researchers is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a willingness to collaborate with colleagues.

Employment Terms

  • This is a temporary position for a duration of three years, with a gross monthly salary of up to €7,232 (scale 12), contingent on educational background and relevant experience, based on a full-time work schedule of 36 hours.
  • Attractive benefits package, including a 13th month salary paid in November and an individual travel expense allowance.
  • Support for relocation and settling in.
  • Pension plan with ABP, covering approximately two-thirds of the monthly contributions.
  • Additional perks, such as in-house physiotherapy services and bicycle maintenance, along with access to a gym for post-work fitness activities.
