Position Overview: Senior HVDC Consultant

In this role, you will engage in a variety of tasks across different project phases. During the feasibility assessment, your expertise will be crucial in determining the ideal specifications for HVDC systems, utilizing network and performance analysis. In the design phase of HVDC substations, you will outline the station configuration, the electro-mechanical setup, select primary equipment (such as transformers), and identify potential filter banks (including shunt compensators and smoothing reactors), ancillary apparatus, and control & protection mechanisms. Throughout the construction and commissioning stages, you will oversee factory and site acceptance testing, ensuring the quality of the delivered products. You will maintain direct communication with clients, ensuring that project delivery meets both technical and financial objectives. Additionally, you will coordinate the efforts of junior engineers involved in project execution.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, you should possess a solid understanding of electrical power systems and be proficient in commonly used software tools for network modeling (e.g., PSCAD, ATP, EMTP-RV, PSSE, DigSilent, or equivalent).

Team Dynamics & Work Environment:

You will be part of a dedicated team focused on the primary Power Equipment/Systems of HVDC Stations. Initial training will take place at our headquarters, followed by opportunities for international assignments that may vary in duration. Your base of operations will be in the Netherlands.

Key Attributes:

· Proficient communication skills in Dutch and English (both written and verbal). Knowledge of additional languages, particularly German or French, is advantageous.

· A blend of determination, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills for effective customer engagement.

· Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.

· A degree in Electrical Engineering, ideally with a focus on Energy Engineering at the BSc or MSc level.

· Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Core Competencies:

· Efficient management of internal and external resources.

· Expertise in project coordination and scheduling.

· Adaptability to lead consultancy efforts in diverse international contexts.

· Proficiency in handling complex and demanding projects.

Technical Proficiencies:

· Familiarity with key HVDC components (transformers, breakers, disconnectors, filters, bushings, switchgears, smoothing reactors, and surge arresters).

· Experience with software tools for network modeling (e.g., PSSE, PSCAD, ATP, DigSilent, or equivalent, ETAP).

· Knowledge of applicable standards for Converter Stations.
